We have a routine now where we meet their family at the theater. The children run for the snack line where Gaylynne lets us fill them with sugar.
Gummy pizzas, red hots, skittles, jaw breakers... Everything comes in little boxes that cost around a quarter so the kids can get 3 or 4 boxes for a dollar. We saw The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything. What fun. All of the children including Dayton really seemed to enjoy the movie. When the Pirates got onto the ship Dayton called out loudly "Boat". That made us all laugh.
We picked up hamburgers on the way home from Wendy's. Wow! Yuk! They were awful. We wanted to get to work right away on the kitchen floor so to keep from cooking and cleaning up... Bad idea.
With the landing all tiled we began on the kitchen floor. By 9:30 we had almost all of the flooring removed and loaded into the van.
Dad wore out the blade and may have ruined his saw. It smoked for quite a while after he turned it off and the house quickly filled up with a noxious smell.
He took the first load of debris to the shop where he searched for another blade. He worked harder on the second half of the flooring because they had glued it down and nailed it. The nailed section was easier to remove using the crowbar and the hammer but the glued section just came out in little pieces. He beat himself up pretty badly.
He has only to remove a little bit more close to the walls where he first has to remove the moulding.
Poor guy was awake most of the night with an ear ache and numb hands and aching arms. On the upside, I slept pretty well.
Today I removed the old wall paper behind the refrigerator and will prep that tonight with plaster. The wallpaper had been installed on dry wallboard. Sure glad Alan paid a lot of attention to detail :(
