Sleeping Beauty and Gaylynne's Tire Experience

We had a wonderful time watching Sleeping Beauty in Portland. I was able to get only these two photographs of the set before the usher came and told me to put my camera away.

This peeved me a little because I had left my camera in my purse for a very long time watching others getting photos of their families and the school children.

He never said a word to them but singled me out.

It wasn't as if I was taking photos during the performance. There was still 3 or 4 minutes before it was time for the play to start.

Melanie was going to spend the afternoon with me until her Daddy got off work.

Then the two of them were going to participate in the Zoo Snooze. I think that a "Father of the Year" award, or at least "Father of the Week" award should be given to Don for spending the night in a sleeping bag at the Zoo with his daughter. Not only did he sleep on a child-sized mattress on the floor, but he was there with the mothers and teachers of elementary school children.

Courtney received her Outstanding Leopard Award at school.

I'm not sure why Dayton was unhappy here but isn't he cute?

I was browning the meat for the soup when I got a phone call from Neal saying that Gaylynne needed a little help.

The tire had come off of her car in Vancouver and she needed a ride.

I put the food into the refrigerator and drove to the Costco in Vancouver. Her car was being put onto one of those big flat bed tow trucks.

A man named Dave helped Gaylynne get the kids out of the traffic and safely into the parking lot of a gas station.

After putting the carseats and other personal things from his truck into my car he took the children to the fast food place across the street. Gaylynne and I looked at each other and she said, "I don't even know him". She quickly chased after him while I brought the car around.

He was a very nice man and as soon as the kids all had their ice cream cones, he excused himself and left.

Melanie was excited about the chocolate shell on her ice cream cone.

I couldn't believe that little Emma was able to eat that much ice cream.

Dayton did better with a spoon.

I didn't get a photo of it but when he got down to the cone he turned it sideways and ate it like corn on the cob. Pretty funny.

The children all received their Junior Deputy stickers from the police officer who directed traffic around their stranded car.

This and a little soda and some cookies (after the ice cream) became our lunch.
I think we waited 2 1/2 or 3 hours for Les Schwaab to complete the repairs on the car. I had fun. Gaylynne and I got to spend some time talking and visiting.

Emma became our official photographer.

As we left to go to our homes, I snapped this picture of the damage to their beautiful car when the tire just came off and rolled down the street.
What a blessing that no one was hurt.

Enjoyed reading all your updates & looking at your pictures. I still haven't got the chance yet to see if the pictures you sent me - are printable. Thanks for sending me them and thanks again for all your help with the tire experience.
