Courtney's 9th Birthday

I took a lot of photos so I won't be writing very much.
As you can see Great Grandma baked two berry pies for Courtney's birthday. She ran out of berries and had to buy some. When she saw her friend she commented that she hoped she would be allowed to come to his home this summer and pick more. He obliged her by giving her three bags full! It was interesting how you could tell the difference between the "store bought" berries and those she had picked fresh.

Courtney got her very own Palm for her birthday. Don found it for her at a place called Free Geek which is located near our shop on 10th Street. He got a really good deal on it and she couldn't be happier.

In this next photo she is sending some pictures she drew to her Grandpa's Palm.

During the time he was waiting for his dinner Dayton cleaned me out of Cinnamon Toasters. This was a cereal that Melanie had chosen when she had her sleep-over.

He is such a cutie.

When the adults seemed too busy to blow up the balloons, Melanie just did it herself. Though she said it was really hard to tie the balloons she did it!
In the next photo Dayton couldn't wait for his dinner. This tray of chicken stuffed croissants was set on the nook table while the other two finished cooking.
By the time he got to them the tray was not hot enough to burn him. We made lots of food hoping that Teresa and the kids would feel well enough to come. Sadly, they didn't feel well enough or they had another activity.
The other two trays were served at dinner and this one went back into the oven to keep warm. There was enough left over for Gaylynne to take some home and we had them for dinner the next day too.

After munching one croissant Dayton decided that they made good play doh and began smashing them on the table. He was having quite a good time when I showed up with the camera.

Courtney had a wonderful time opening her gifts and said that she was very happy she had gotten everything that she'd asked for.
Dayton wanted in on the festivities too and Courtney was so sweet to let him open a couple of the presents.

Unfortunately, since he opened it he thought that it was his and he put up quite a fuss when it was taken from him.

Emma was very excited about the gift she had given to Courtney.

You can't see them but across from Courtney both Emma and Melanie were also blowing. I'm not sure the candles would have been blown out without their help. Courtney stayed back quite a ways when she blew.
And for tonight's entertainment Melanie gave us a fashion show. She changed costumes so fast it would have made 5 On Ice proud!

Emma joined in with lovely ensemble and her new baton from the Dollar Tree.

Happy Birthday Courtney! Wish the rest of the family could have been here with us.
