Grandma called this afternoon to report that Dad's sweet Aunt Nellie had passed away this morning.
Grandma had visited with her yesterday and was sad because of the terrible amount of pain Nellie was in. The cancer in her stomach kept her up moaning during the night. Dorine tried to wake her this morning. She was breathing and it was decided that she needed to be moved to the nursing home for additional care. However, she slipped through the veil before that move could be made. Ultimately, it was not the cancer that she died of but heart failure.
As you can imagine Dorine is very sad. She was unable to call Mom and asked that her sister, Loretta, do that.
We understand that Nellie will be buried in Gustine Cemetery next to her husband Stewart Jones.
Grandma is doing okay and called to say that she didn't need us to go to Newberg tonight. We probably will anyway. Nellie was born in 1909. We will miss her very much.
