I made cheese rolls to go with a big pot of beans to take up to Don's and Gaylynne's house for lunch before Emma's and Melanie's dance recital. We worked together on the last bits of dusting and washing dishes and by 11:00 we headed for Costco.
We found a nice pair of running shoes for Dad for only $15.00. His other shoes were spotted with ink from the printing at the shop.
We arrived a little bit early at Grandma's and Dad set to work on a small list of items that needed to be done.
He installed a new light fixture in the kitchen and replaced the lights where needed. He installed a new battery into the wall clock...just little stuff like that.
Grandma sewed one of the cute little tags that Dad made for her onto Dayton's blanket.
I cut the other tags out for her to keep in a zip lock bag for her other projects.
Though it was over 100 degrees outside the humidity was low so it wasn't ever too uncomfortable.
We decided to go upstairs to Dayton's room so that Great Grandma could present him with new blanket.
It has been a tradition for her to make quilts for the boys in the family.
I didn't get a good angle for this picture of the quilt because all 9 of us were in the room for the presentation. But isn't it just darling?
Some of my photos did not come out and I don't know why. Gaylynne sat down on the bed and spread the blanket out so we could see it.
Dayton quickly climbed up next to her and pulled the blanket over his legs. He was very excited and liked it very much. The girls all made a fuss about how cute it was.
Soon Dayton had had enough and looked for a car to play with.
We coaxed him back into the room so we could get a couple more pictures.
You can see by the expression on his little face that enough was enough.
In the next photo Grandma is explaining something to Don and Gaylynne while Dayton and Grandpa play with little paper bag puppets.
Dayton and his Grandpa have a very sweet relationship.
Before we left for the recital Gaylynne set up the DVD or the VCR so the girls could practice their dances just one more time.
I can hear my kids now moaning, "Oh no. Don't say Just One More Time".
Ha Ha Ha
You guys really did hear that a lot didn't you? Maybe the only difference is that when I said that, it mostly meant one more time for Dad and me too!
